Laundry Room Organization Ideas for 2022

A new year is a time for new beginnings, so why not make revamping your laundry room a part of that? After all, we spend a large part of our lives going in and out of the laundry room (because laundry truly never ends!). The more organized and clean it is, the better the chance laundry will be a simpler chore to do and the less time you’ll need to spend hanging about the laundry room!

If you’re not sure where to start on cleaning and organizing your laundry room for success, we’ve got you covered. Even implementing just one idea from below can make your life easier.

1. A folding table that folds. Instead of folding laundry on the bed or in the living room, fold laundry right at the source - while still saving space - with a small tabletop that folds down from the wall.

2. Make your own space savers. Sometimes you simply can’t find storage that meets your needs online or in-store. If that’s the case, make a storage compartment of your own designed for what you need. You can install metal baskets on the wall to hold detergent while straps underneath store your ironing board, for example.

3. Rearrange Fido. Many people keep pets in the laundry room area when they’re away from home, which means constantly tripping over food bowls or toys when you’re doing laundry. Instead of leaving your pet’s belonging out in the open, store them in open areas underneath tables or sinks. Your dog’s bed can go beneath a table, while their food dish can be set under a utility sink.

4. Use your wall space! Many people don’t realize just how much they can use wall space for. Install hooks to hang laundry or jackets. Install pegs to hold smaller items such as hangers. Install baskets to hold medium items such as stain remover or fabric softener. You can even install a storage rack on your laundry room door if needed. Really, the sky’s the limit!

5. Utilize hampers that serve more than a single function. Laundry hampers are a must, but why not get hampers that do more than one thing? You can get larger hampers that have several sections, so you and your family can sort laundry as it gets dirty. You can also get hampers that have tables or ironing boards on top to save space.

A little creative thinking can go a long way to saving space in your laundry room, enabling you to get in and out at a quicker pace! Take a look around your laundry room next time you’re in it and see where you might be able to add more tabletops or storage.
